Analyzing Detroit Lions’ 16-9 loss to Philadelphia Eagles

Free Press sports writers Jeff Seidel and Shawn Windsor break down the Detroit Lions’ 16-9 loss to the Eagles on Sunday, Nov. 16.

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold remains in concussion protocol more than a week after he suffered a brain injury in a win over the Washington Commanders.

The Lions listed Arnold as a non-participant on their estimated practice report Wednesday, one of five key players who would have been a no-go had the Lions been on the field.

Starting safeties Kerby Joseph (knee) and Brian Branch (toe) also were listed as non-participants, as were starting offensive tackles Penei Sewell (ankle) and Taylor Decker (shoulder).

Coach Dan Campbell said Wednesday, Nov. 19, that Branch’s injury is not serious.

“I think we’re going to be OK,” he said. “Arnold’s still kind of day to day here, so we’ll see. But I feel good about Branch, a lot better.”

The Lions (6-4) have lost two of their past three games and are coming off a 16-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. They host the New York Giants on Sunday.

Along with five non-participants, the Lions listed eight players as limited on their estimated practice report, including starting offensive linemen Graham Glasgow (knee) and Tate Ratledge (knee) as well as defensive starters D.J. Reed and Marcus Davenport as they make their way back from injured reserve.

After having a walk-through Wednesday, the Lions will return to practice Thursday.
