Jaguars coach Liam Coen says team must play up to its new standard
Jaguars coach Liam Coen talks about the standard the team set in its 35-6 win over the Chargers last week and how they can keep it going.
The Jacksonville Jaguars enter Week 12 against the Arizona Cardinals with several players to keep track of on their practice reports.
Last week, the Jaguars saw players return and a couple sit out of action due to ailments. Wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (ankle) practiced limited, but missed last week’s contest. Meanwhile, the team was not prepared to activate tight end Brenton Strange after two days of limited work, as he looks to get activated from the team’s injured reserve list.
Strange nonetheless has two weeks to get back to full speed after spending the last five games on the sideline after sustaining a hip injury in the team’s win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5.
The Jaguars were also without cornerback Jourdan Lewis (neck), tight end Hunter Long (knee/hip) and right tackle Anton Harrison (knee/ankle). Harrison was on the field last Friday, but worked off to the side.
The Jaguars do not provide detailed injury reports throughout the week, so head coach Liam Coen did not provide much of an update on the players who missed last week. Still, he suggested optimism as the team looks forward to the Cardinals, their next out-west trip of the season.
A few additional players worth tracking are defensive end Travon Walker, linebacker Yasir Abdullah and running back Bhayshul Tuten.
Tuten was at practice on Wednesday during the media availability portion, but Walker and Abdullah were not. Walker was injured against the Chargers last week, but he returned to the game while Tuten did not after sustaining an ankle injury at the start of the fourth quarter.
Here is who is hurt for Jacksonville, and their practice status for Wednesday.
