The Denver Broncos took down the Kansas City Chiefs in a thriller this past week, a 22-19 victory that was sealed by a buzzer-beating field goal from Wil Lutz. The win pushed Denver to a 9-2 record, gave them a load of control in the AFC West and earned the orange and blue a ton of respect around the NFL.

However, Sean Payton’s squad didn’t seem to earn any respect from the oddsmakers of the world, as Vegas is still doubting the Broncos to make some noise in the playoffs.

The oddsmakers still don’t have much faith in the Broncos to make some noise in the playoffs, and have them below the Chiefs (??) to win the AFC and make the Super Bowl pic.twitter.com/P3rRgvk8Cs

While the Broncos are among the teams that are essentially a lock to make the playoffs (-5,000, third-shortest) and are the heavy favorites to win the AFC West (-300), they still haven’t proved their ability in the playoffs, and the books are clearly taking that into account. Payton’s Broncos have only appeared in one postseason game, a blowout loss against the Bills in last year’s Wild Card round.

The Broncos have -165 odds to make the Divisional Round, +230 odds to make the AFC championship, +600 odds to make the Super Bowl and +1,500 odds to bring home a fourth Vince Lombardi Trophy. For reference, Kansas City has +500 odds to win the AFC and +1,000 odds to win the Super Bowl.

Remember, the Chiefs are 5-5 and currently sit in ninth place in the AFC. It’s not like things are getting any easier for them, as they’re set to welcome the 8-2 Indianapolis Colts to town this week. They also have to take on a talented offense in the Dallas Cowboys, one of the league’s best defenses in the Houston Texans and the Broncos again. Even with all those games on the schedule, these oddsmakers still believe that the NFL’s top dynasty this decade has a better change of making noise in the playoffs than the Broncos.
