NFL Overreactions Week 11
USAT’s Prince Grimes breaks down the biggest storylines from NFL Week 11.
Sports Seriously
The Jets (2-8) are back in action Sunday as they visit the Baltimore Ravens (5-5) in Week 12.
Gang Green is coming off of a ‘mini-bye’ week, as they played last Thursday night in a 27-14 loss to the scorching hot 9-2 New England Patriots, who along with the Denver Broncos, have won a league-high eight consecutive games.
It’ll be a new Jets quarterback in Baltimore, as veteran QB Tyrod Taylor is getting the start with Justin Fields benched. It was a decision head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed during his media availability but was reported on earlier in the week that the change would be made.
It won’t be an easy task for Taylor, who plays his former team that he won a Super Bowl with as a backup QB earlier in his career in 2013.
The Ravens are red-hot, winners of four straight with two-time NFL MVP QB Lamar Jackson almost a full month back in action after a hamstring injury caused him to miss four weeks.
History does not favor the Jets here. The Ravens have dominated them, winning 10 of 12 all-time meetings, including all six games at home dating back to their first matchup 28 years ago at Giants Stadium, one of only two victories the Jets have ever had against Baltimore.

Here are our staff predictions for Jets vs. Ravens on Sunday in Baltimore:
Bert Bainbridge
The pick:Â Ravens 34, Jets 13
Here’s why:Â The QB change that needed to happen finally did with head coach Aaron Glenn making the move from Justin Fields to Tyrod Taylor under center. Even with the transition to a more stable pocket passer in Taylor, the Jets offense simply won’t be able to keep up with one of the hottest teams in the NFL and the defense will struggle mightily against the likes of QB Lamar Jackson and RB Derrick Henry.
There’s a chance if the Jets don’t come out of the gates scoring early this one could be decided by the third quarter, if not sooner. The Ravens will cruise to victory here as they defeat the Jets by three scores to continue their ascension back into the AFC playoff picture.
Dave Rivera
The pick: Ravens 30, Jets 10
Here’s why: The Jets, and their fans, had seen enough of Justin Fields, so they’re turning to Tyrod Taylor for Sunday’s game in Baltimore. The problem is they’re running into a red-hot team right now, and points will be hard to come by, no matter who’s playing quarterback. The Jets’ defense will be chasing Ravens QB Lamar Jackson all afternoon in a game that will be in Baltimore’s hand by halftime.
Bob Jordan
The pick: Ravens 24, Jets 3
Here’s why: Another thing Aaron Glenn has fouled up: Tyrod Taylor is 18-12-1 as a starting quarterback in home games – but is 27-39 in road games.
Chris Iseman
The pick: Ravens 28, Jets 10
Here’s why: Tyrod Taylor. Justin Fields. Does it really make a difference at this point?
Brian Marron
The pick: Ravens 34, Jets 13
Here’s why: Even if Tyrod Taylor gives the Jets a lift in the passing game, it seems unlikely it will be enough to overcome a surging Ravens team. While the offense is still not clicking yet with Lamar Jackson back, the Baltimore defense looks much improved.
