Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Jacoby Windmon, who the team released a few weeks ago, is signing back to the Carolina Panthers practice squad.

Windmon was released on October 29 as part of the Steelers’ practice squad shakeup around that time, and he has not returned since that point.

Windmon has only been with the Carolina Panthers signed him off the Steelers’ practice squad last year. They released him in August and now he will return to that group.

Windmon, an undrafted rookie out of Michigan State in 2024, did not make the Steelers’ 53-man roster after playing well in the preseason last year. Instead, he joined the team’s practice squad as an edge rusher and linebacker that can play at both spots.

Windmon played in eight games with the Panthers, racking up 1.5 sacks and 13 tackles in his rookie season.

He will have a chance to showcase what he can do with the Panthers once again, only this time it will be on their practice squad rather than their active roster.

The Steelers, meanwhile, are mostly healthy at outside linebacker and inside linebacker, which has allowed them to cut down on some of those positions on the practice squad as they deal with injuries elsewhere.
