Troy Aikman has walked back his Super Bowl prediction after the legendary NFL quarterback after his previous guess generated a strong response from Michael Strahan.
While making an appearance on ‘Good Morning America,’ Aikman declared that the Dallas Cowboys would hoist the Lombardi Trophy next February – though it appears as though the support for his former team wasn’t entirely serious.
On the heels of a disappointing 2024 campaign in which they failed to make the playoffs, the Cowboys underwent a series of significant changes this offseason.
Dallas hired offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as the 10th head coach in franchise history after approaching Deion Sanders with the role.

After selecting Tyler Booker with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Cowboys then acquired a new offensive weapon for quarterback Dak Prescott by landing wide receiver George Pickens in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Following the flurry of moves, Aikman boldly named the Cowboys when asked who his favorite for Super Bowl LX is. Upon hearing his answer, Strahan clapped back: “You know better than that, come on Troy.”
One day later, Aikman conceded that the prediction was mostly intended to garner a reaction from Strahan – a member of the New York Giants Ring of Honor.
“Well, that was … ya know … people tend to get excited and overreact to everything these days,” he said on ESPN. “I was half-joking because Michael Strahan was in the studio.”

Regardless, Aikman still expects that the Cowboys will vastly improve their 7-10 record from last season, which came off the rails once Prescott suffered a partial hamstring avulsion that sidelined him for the majority of the year.
“I understand the Eagles are the cream of the crop and Washington will be better,” he said. “But I do think Dallas has been flying under the radar this offseason and rightfully so.
“They don’t deserve a lot of talk at this point. But I do believe that they’re going to be – not just because they were injured last year – I think they’re going to be a better football team this year and they may surprise some people.
“I know in Dallas there’s always talk about a Super Bowl and, who knows, it’s been a while as we know. But I do think they’re going to contend and be stronger than they’ve probably gotten credit for at this point.”

The Cowboys will be tested early this season as they face off against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles in Week 1 on Thursday, Sept. 4. Prior to a Week 10 bye, Dallas will additionally play the Green Bay Packers, Washington Commanders, and Denver Broncos – all of whom made the postseason in 2024.
Then on Thanksgiving, the Cowboys will have their hands full when taking on the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes at home.
