Four Colorado Buffaloes were taken in the 2025 NFL draft, leaving several Buffs to be picked up as undrafted free agents.
Two are getting an NFL opportunity with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Safety Shilo Sanders and wide receiver Will Sheppard signed free-agent contracts with the Buccaneers.

Shilo Sanders joins his brother Shedeur Sanders, who was drafted by the Cleveland Browns, in the NFL. In his time with Colorado, Shilo Sanders tallied 137 total tackles (99 solo) in 21 games as a starter. In 2024, Shilo Sanders helped revitalize the Buffs’ defense as a part of the hard-hitting safety duo with Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig.
Sheppard is the fourth Buffs wide receiver to join the NFL after Travis Hunter, Jimmy Horn Jr. and LaJohntay Wester were taken during the draft. The 6-foot-3 receiver was Colorado’s vertical threat last season after he spent four years at Vanderbilt. In his one season with Colorado, Sheppard started all 13 games and tallied 621 yards and six touchdowns on 48 receptions.
Shilo Sanders will face stiff competition to make the roster in Tampa. The Bucs drafted one safety and signed two as undrafted free agents. Sheppard joins an elite wide receiver corps headlined by Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and recently drafted Emeka Egbuka from Ohio State.
