Lane Kiffin is the hottest name in the ongoing college football coaching carousel.
As he leads the No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels through their impressive 10-1 campaign, Kiffin is fielding heavy interest from some big-name programs — including Florida and LSU.
Kiffin has made it very clear that he intends to coach the Rebels in their regular-season finale against Mississippi State on Nov. 28, but his future with the program beyond that point is still up in the air.
Ole Miss is in excellent position to make the 12-team College Football Playoff field and compete for a national championship. But if Kiffin leaves the program before its upcoming postseason run, the selection committee may ding the Rebels in its final playoff seeding.
“If you’re suddenly without your head coach when they do the final seeding, the coach who’s gotten you to that point, then they could definitely drop you in the seeding order and put you on the road.” college football insider Chris Low of On3 Sports reported on Thursday.

Kiffin deflected questions about his coaching future during an SEC teleconference on Wednesday.
“I’m going to say what I’ve done for six years, which is not talk about other jobs and that situation,” Kiffin said, via ESPN. “I love it here and it’s been amazing. And we’re in the season that’s the greatest run in the history of Ole Miss at this point — never been at this point. So I think it’s really exciting, and so I’m just living in the moment that amazing.”

After notching the team’s 10th win of the 2025 season over the Florida Gators this past Saturday, Kiffin and Ole Miss landed No. 6 position in the most-recent College Football Playoff rankings — jumping up one spot from their previous Week 11 ranking.
The Rebels have this weekend off as they prepare for their final regular-season game against Mississippi State on Nov. 28.
