The Arizona Cardinals’ offense looked a little different on Sunday, with a new face shining in the spotlight.

Receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. missed Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers due to appendicitis surgery, and that paved the way for Michael Wilson to be Arizona’s No. 1 receiver.

Now, the Cardinals are hopeful to get running back Trey Benson back in Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

What To Watch With Marvin Harrison Jr. Out, Trey Benson Back?

The Cardinals announced on Wednesday that Harrison would miss his second straight game. Last week, when that announcement was made, questions circulated about whether Wilson could fill the No. 1 receiver role.

Wilson answered those questions in an emphatic way on Sunday. The Cardinals receiver caught 15 passes for 185 yards, earning his first B grade of the year, according to PFSN’s WR Impact.

So, when news broke this week that Harrison would miss his second straight game, the question was answered; Wilson will be ready.

However, the Cardinals are hoping to add another weapon for the offense this week as Arizona opened up the practice window for Benson to return from injured reserve.

Benson has been out with a knee injury since Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks. Then, in Week 11, Emari Demercado left the game injured, and he’s been ruled out for Sunday’s game.

So, Benson’s practice window opening on Wednesday is a great sign for his availability on Sunday. The Cardinals’ running back has been a limited practice participant both days this week.

Along with Benson, Bam Knight has been a limited practice participant both days this week. If Benson is activated for Sunday’s game, which is likely, the backfield will be a split of Benson, Knight, and the Cardinals will probably bring up Michael Carter from the practice squad, as they have the last couple of weeks.

Arizona would likely take a hot-hand approach, but limit Benson’s touches. As Benson gets back to 100 percent, he’s expected to slowly take over in the backfield.

As for the receivers, the only player on the injury report was Harrison. So, Wilson, Dortch, Andre Baccellia and Xavier Weaver should be good to go for Sunday.

Wilson will function as the No. 1 receiver once again, but don’t expect a crazy output like last week.

Tight end Trey McBride also had a ridiculous game in Week 11, and expect those two to remain the primary receivers. However, don’t be surprised if there are certain plays drawn up for Dortch, and Arizona tries to get the running backs involved in the pass game.
