The Falcons and Saints will face off for this season on Sunday.
The Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints have one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL, but their first meeting in 2025 will be somewhat anticlimactic. With a combined record of 5-15, both teams are essentially out of the playoff race with seven weeks left in the season.
While Sunday’s game won’t have playoff ramifications, it still means something to these two NFC South rivals. The Falcons are missing some key players, including quarterback Michael Penix Jr., wide receiver Drake London and potentially a few more.
Penix has been placed on the injured reserve list with a partially torn ACL. London has already been ruled out for Week 12 due to a knee injury of his own. Kirk Cousins will step in for Penix over the final seven games. In London’s case, look for KhaDarel Hodge to fill in at wide receiver.
On the bright side, linebacker Divine Deablo has a good chance to return this week after missing the last four games with a broken forearm. The team has yet to win a game with Deablo out of the lineup, so his return bodes well for Atlanta’s chances on Sunday.
Left guard Matthew Bergeron, who’s missed the last two games, is expected to return as well. Check out the Falcons’ projected starting lineups for Week 12, featuring Pro Football Focus grades for each player.
