Former Ravens QB Tyrod Taylor highlights six stars of New York’s stars to watch on offense.

This weekend, the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to the Windy City to tackle the Chicago Bears. The Baltimore Ravens host the New York Jets. The results of both games should be known by 4 p.m. EST or so. If all goes according to plan, a Steelers loss and Ravens win would give both teams identical 6-5 records.

A Ravens win means they’d be above .500 for the first time all season. On any given Sunday, any team can win, but if we’re dissecting the resumes of all four teams, Baltimore should have an easier path to victory.

Tyrod Taylor, quarterback

Hey! Remember this guy? Tyrod Taylor was a sixth-round draft choice of the Baltimore Ravens during the 2011 NFL Draft. He spent four years here as a backup, completing 19 of 35 passes during his run while tossing zero TDs and two interceptions.

He has since spent his time as a journeyman backup. His career record is 28-29-1. A Jets roster shuffle places his name at the top of the QB depth chart, meaning he’ll duel with Lamar Jackson on Sunday.

Breece Hall, running back

You could scan all 32 NFL rosters forward and backward. It’s hard to find a tailback of Breece Hall’s caliber. Sadly, we fear he’ll waste many of his prime years playing for a Jets organization that can’t get out of its own way.

He has tallied 722 yards on 152 carries, 226 yards on 24 receptions, and three total touchdowns. He’s the guy in the number 20 Jets jersey. You won’t have many issues spotting him.

Mason Taylor & Jeremy Ruckert, tight ends

With Garrett Wilson and Josh Wilson both on injured reserve, other guys have had to step up. Jets signals have found comfort in using the tight ends as security blankets.

Mason Taylor and Jeremy Ruckert have combined for 48 receptions, 395 yards receiving, and two total touchdowns. They’re too strong for some corners and too fast for some linebackers, but the Ravens unit ought to be okay.

Tyler Johnson, wide receiver

Wilson and Reynolds’ absences leave Tyler Johnson, Adonai Mitchell, and newly-acquired John Metchie as New York’s top options at wide receiver. The best of that bunch is Johnson. He has amassed ten receptions for 187 yards receiving and one trip to the end zone to aid the Jets’ cause.

Olu Fashanu, left tackle

Olu Fashanu is the man charged with protecting Tyrod Taylor’s blindside. If Baltimore’s pass rush is to win, this is one of the guys they must befuddle. So is Armand Membou on the other side.
