Compared to their opponents, the Indianapolis Colts will have a slight rest advantage over the course of the 2025 NFL season.
With schedules for all 32 teams now official, the Colts‘ three additional days of rest gained over their opponents is tied for the 12th-most.
For example, the Colts are coming out of their bye week in Week 12, while the Kansas City Chiefs will have played the following Sunday. So, in terms of rest, the Colts have a seven-day advantage over the Chiefs.
On the flip side, the Colts do not face any team coming out of their own bye week. The only rest disadvantages they have on the schedule is that the Texans will have a three-day advantage in Week 13 after playing on Thursday Night the week prior.
The Jaguars in Week 17 will also have a one-day advantage with the Colts playing on Monday night the week prior.
The teams with the largest rest advantages include Detroit with 13 days, Miami with 11 days, and the LA Rams with 10 days.
The teams with the worst advantages are the Raiders at -19 days, the Saints at -13 days, and the Commanders at -14 days.
In determining the difficulty of a schedule for a team, it can go beyond just who the opponent is. While the amount of rest a team has compared to their opponents isn’t the be-all end-all, over the course of a long NFL season, it is noteworthy.
Additional time between games means more time to prepare and more time to rest up and get healthy.
