KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – For the third straight game, Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco will not be suiting up.
Head coach Andy Reid announced Friday that Pacheco would be ruled out for Sunday’s Week 12 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts as the fourth-year running back continues his recovery from an MCL sprain of his right knee.
Pacheco suffered the injury near the end of the fourth quarter of Kansas City’s Week 8 victory over the Washington Commanders.
Reid said Pacheco did not suffer a setback this week during practice, despite the Chiefs listing him as a full participant in Wednesday’s practice and then downgrading the Rutgers product to limited later in the week.
“It wasn’t a setback,” Reid said. “We were just seeing where he was at and trying to give him some work. He did some scout team stuff and running around. It was literally just to see where he was at.”
Starting left guard Kingsley Suamataia continues to progress through concussion protocol, Reid said. Suamataia left the Chiefs matchup with the Denver Broncos in the third quarter.
Wide receiver Xavier Worthy looked good during Friday’s practice, Reid said and is progressing toward playing again despite a lingering ankle injury that caused him to be a non-participant in Wednesday’s practice.
Without Pacheco, the Chiefs will again go into Sunday’s game against the Colts with veteran Kareem Hunt as the team’s lead back and a supplemental cast of rookie Brashard Smith and either Elijah Mitchell or Clyde Edwards-Helaire as the team’s third active player at the position.
The Chiefs and Colts will kick off at 12 p.m. CT on Sunday. The game can be seen live on KCTV.
