Lions DT Alim McNeill on playing snaps at defensive end

McNeill said Nov. 20, 2025 he enjoyed playing some snaps at defensive end against the Eagles, but that he’s planning on sticking at defensive tackle.

D.J. Reed is expected to return from a hamstring injury for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, but the Detroit Lions will have to wait at least one more week to get another injured starter back in the lineup.

The Lions ruled defensive end Marcus Davenport out for this weekend in his return from a pectoral injury.

Davenport has not played since Week 2, but returned to practice last week and Lions coach Dan Campbell said he’s “close” to being cleared for game action.

Reed, who has been out since late September with a strained hamstring, is questionable for Sunday, though Campbell said he’s feels good about the cornerback’s return.

“Just the word is gratitude,” Reed said after practice Friday in Allen Park. “Just happy to be back out there with my teammates. Looking forward to contributing.”

The Lions ruled out four other players for Sunday: Terrion Arnold (concussion), Kerby Joseph (knee), Miles Frazier (knee) and Josh Paschal (back). Paschal and Frazier are on the physically unable to perform list.
