Brian Mitchell suggested some reading material for Washington Commanders fans.

Mitchell and J.P. Finlay, hosting their 106.7 The Fan radio show “BMitch and Finlay, decided it was time to tell the Commanders fan base about some reading they should probably take upon themselves soon.

Finlay mentioned that the Commanders released WR Jacoby Jones, a rookie from UCF. Jones was playing in his first NFL game, Sunday against the Dolphins in Spain. In the final quarter, Jones ran a nice route, was open, Marcus Mariota found him, and Jones ran after the catch for a 25-yard gain.

So, why cut Jones two days later? Why not cut a veteran player you don’t expect back next season? The team is going nowhere this season, so why not keep Jones and see if he can develop for you?

Mitchell, the former Redskins running back and returner, offered some advice to the fan base that might be listening. He first explained that Jones, being undrafted, was unlikely to be picked up by any other team and would thus be re-signed to the practice squad this week.

Then Mitchell took it a step further. “Listen, there are a lot of books out there that teach people,” began Mitchell. “And the title of a book can seem a little harsh, but it’s for people to learn. ‘Football for Dummies,’ they have tons of them, ‘Golf for Dummies’, all of that stuff.”

Mitchell then explained, “Educate yourself for a little bit, instead of just thinking that getting loud and making all of these wrong statements makes you any better. Get a little educated on the whole thing and you won’t get riled up too much. Because that is a simple little move what they (Commanders) are doing.”

I was ROFL… Brian Mitchell is still the same, straight-up guy who is going to tell you what he thinks, whether you want to hear it or not.
