SANTA CLARA — After reports surfaced of Brandon Aiyuk’s contract guarantees being voided as well as a disconnect with the 49ers organization, the wideout’s teammates showed nothing but support.

Ricky Pearsall, who has been friends with Aiyuk since the two were teammates at Arizona State University, spoke at length about their relationship but refrained to comment on what might heave led to the off-field issues between the All-Pro and the 49ers.

“I got all the love for B.A., but I try not to stick my nose in that kind of business,” Pearsall said on Saturday. “Me and B.A. go way back to ASU days, 2019, so how I feel about him specifically, it will never change.

“He has been a huge part of my journey. He was the first receiver, I would say, that showed me the routes of what an NFL receiver looks like, back in 2019 and even to this day.”

Other teammates including Trent Williams and Jauan Jennings shared that they have kept in contact with Aiyuk, and still hold out hope for the receiver’s return to the field, but did not want to comment further on the matter.

“I love B like a brother, and I’m not going to comment on his situation,” Williams said. “It’s between him and the 49ers. I’m going to let that be what it is.”

Jennings shared that the two have only spoken briefly about Aiyuk’s rehabilitation.

“B as far as I know has been getting great rehab and just being B,” Jennings said.  “I talk to him, and told him I hope he’s healing up. That’s about it.”

Pearsall too, kept stayed on the topic of Aiyuk’s well-being, as opposed to the reports of what might have transpired between the club and the veteran wide receiver.

“I think he’s doing fine,” Pearsall said. “It’s hard because he’s a quiet guy, he’s to himself but as much as I can reach out to him and show love his way, because he’s done that throughout my journey. Just trying to pay dues back to him. I think he’s doing good.”

Aiyuk, who has been rehabbing from a horrific knee injury suffered in Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season, was seen running routes on the field in September and early October but has recently been absent from the early portion of practice open to the media.

The wideout remains on the physically unable to perform list (PUP), but still with the potential of having his practice window opened as soon as certain physical benchmarks have been met. Pearsall is looking forward to when his teammate is rejoins him on the field again.

“I don’t really know the logistics of what’s going on behind closed doors, but just seeing him out there on the field warming up and running around, it made me happy because what he’s been through with his knee stuff,” Pearsall said. “It was really good to watch him run around out there and potentially be on the field at the same time like we did in the old days. I was excited for that.”
