When Bill Belichick made the decision to jump to college football with the North Carolina Tar Heels, many expected him to turn the program around and lead it back to success. However, that has been far from the case during his first year with the program.

On Saturday, North Carolina lost yet another game. This time, the Tar Heels came up short against the rival Duke Blue Devils. The final score of the game was 32-25.

Throughout the course of the year, a lot of drama has come out regarding Belichick. His girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, has been a big factor in that drama, but the team’s play on the field has been equally as frustrating.

Belichick’s future with the Tar Heels is completely unknown. While the season has been frustrating, moving on after just one year would be a very quick decision when it comes to the legendary head coach. North Carolina might opt to keep him around for one more season to see if he can begin improvements.

That being said, fans did not hold back from sharing their frustration after the Tar Heels’ loss to Duke.

The calls for Belichick’s firing on social media were loud.

“Ban bill from the state of north carolina,” one fan wrote.

Another chimed in, “Yeah this program is never seeing a bowl game again.”

“Worst coached team in college football. For the love of all things that are good, please Bill’s washed (expletive) out of chapel hill,” a third fan commented.

A fourth fan said, “Bill is completely brain dead!”

“FIRE BILL!” a fifth comment read.

With the loss to the Blue Devils, North Carolina’s record this season sits at 4-7. Belichick and company are no longer capable of becoming bowl eligible and their season will end after next week’s game against N.C. State.

It’s possible that the Tar Heels could consider moving on from Belichick after just one season. However, it’s much more likely that fans have at least one more year to see what the longtime head coach can do.

Hopefully, if Belichick is brought back for the 2026 season, North Carolina can take a big leap forward. If not, Belichick’s legacy will undoubtedly take a major hit.
