Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller, 36, remains a free agent. Should the Denver Broncos bring him back?
One of Miller’s old teammates — former tight end Julius Thomas — was asked about a potential reunion between Miller and the Broncos during a recent interview on FanDuel TV’s Up & Adams show.
“For Von, I think it would be a good close to his chapter,” Thomas said of Miller potentially ending his career with his first NFL club. “I know how much Denver meant to Von. I know how much it hurt when he left Denver. … I know it would mean so much for him to run out of that tunnel.”
Kay Adams also interviewed Miller during the NFLPA’s golf tournament in Mexico earlier this offseason. Miller said he has “always loved the blue and orange” before noting that he’s in “wait and see” mode for his next career move.
Miller returning to the city where his NFL career began would be a great story, but it’s hard to imagine the Broncos finding a spot for him on the 90-man offseason roster. Denver already has Jonathon Cooper, Nik Bonitto, Jonah Elliss, Dondrea Tillman and Que Robinson at outside linebacker.
Miller does not play on special teams, so the Broncos would have to cut a contributor elsewhere on the roster to make room for a luxury rotational pass rusher when they already have five OLBs who feel like locks to make the team. The Team’s current rotation added Robinson this spring after leading the NFL in sacks last fall.
Fans would love to see Miller return, but it just doesn’t seem like a practical scenario.
