The Jets (2-9) limited the Ravens (6-5) to just a field goal in the first half of Sunday’s contest but Baltimore overcame early struggles to defeat New York, 23-10, at M&T Bank Stadium.

“Tough loss today,” HC Aaron Glenn said. “I feel bad for the players. I just told them how much I love them, how much the effort that they gave was outstanding. [Tough] to not get a victory when I think those guys really played the first half exactly how we wanted to.”

It was a low-scoring first half in Baltimore — both teams were held scoreless in the first quarter. The Jets finally broke through in the second frame, as QB Tyrod Taylor — who made his second start for the Green & White — conducted a 12-play, 79-yard scoring drive. Facing a third-and-10 from Baltimore’s 13-yard line, Taylor connected with WR John Metchie III who dove for the pylon. It was the second consecutive game with a TD for Metchie, who appeared in his third game (second start) for the Green & White after being acquired in a trade with Philadelphia.

QB Lamar Jackson then led the Ravens down the field and into the red zone, but the Jets defense got a stop and forced Baltimore to settle for a 31-yard Tyler Loop field goal.

In the first half, the Ravens were held to just 72 net yards of offense — the unit’s lowest output in the first half of a game this season — and their offense was 0-of-5 on third down. The Jets entered the locker room leading by 7-3.

“Balanced attack,” Taylor said of the first half. “We were running the ball well, also using our play action quick game. Just efficiently executing early on.”
