DETROIT, Mich. (WNEM) – It wasn’t looking good early on at Ford Field today as the Lions hosted the two win New York Football Giants.
Detroit fell behind by 10 in the 1st quarter with Jameis Winston throwing for 366 yards against the Lions defense.
Offensive woes reared its ugly head again for the Lions who were shutout of the 1st quarter with a few tough drops from receivers and Jared Goff still feeling out of sync despite throwing 279 yards and nabbing two touchdowns.
Even still, the Lions were still in the game the whole way and an incredible day from Jahmyr Gibbs would help them tie the game with 30 seconds to go thanks to a 59-yard field goal from Jake Bates to go to overtime.
The Lions got the ball to start OT and Gibbs opened with the knockout punch.
A 69-yard touchdown run for the man they call “Sonic” closed out his 3-touchdown day where Gibbs had 264 all-purpose yards.
The Giants would have one last chance to answer but Aidan Hutchinson would get the Lions first sack of the day on 4th down to close the game.
The Lions escape with the huge win 34-27 and now have a quick turnaround to host their NFC North rivals Green Bay on Thanksgiving Day at 1:00p.m.
