NFL veteran Kris Boyd, who was shot in New York earlier this month, provided an update on how he is doing on Sunday.
Boyd posted a story to his Instagram page of him holding his child’s hand from what appears to be a hospital bed.
The picture includes the caption: “Thank you God!! My son and daughter have their father!”
Kris Boyd of the New York Jets was shot last weekend in New York and taken to the hospital. He was in critical but stable condition following the shooting, according to CBS News.
The outlet reported that Boyd was shot in the abdomen at around 2 a.m. last Sunday morning.
The New York Post reported last week that Boyd was with fellow Jets players Jamien Sherwood and Irvin Charles when a brawl started outside of a restaurant and he was shot.
According to the report, the Jets players were confronted by a group of men who insulted them and asked if they thought they were better than them because of their attire.
A $185,000 watch was recovered from the scene, according to the New York Post, but police said that “at no point did anybody announce a robbery or try to steal anything,” per the outlet.
Last week, Kris Boyd provided an update on his Instagram page from his hospital bed.
“God is real, God is powerful!” he said. “I’m sorry I have no words at the moment.. Just grateful!
“I’m coming along, starting to breathe on my own now. Sincerely appreciate everyone!”
Boyd is in his first season with the New York Jets after previously playing for the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings. He has spent the entire season on injured reserve to this point.
The 29-year-old, who starred at the University of Texas, has played in 79 career games across his seven seasons in the NFL.
Boyd has recorded 105 tackles, 2 forced fumbles and has 3 fumble recoveries to this point in the NFL.
