CHICAGO — The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered multiple key injuries against the Chicago Bears which will loom large for their preparation against the Buffalo Bills.
Wide receiver DK Metcalf suffered an ankle injury and was in and out of the game. He finished the contest, but it is something to watch moving forward.
The Steelers’ top wide receiver, Metcalf already has a touchdown on the game, but his potential injury could throw a complete curveball into the game for Pittsburgh. It would give more work to Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin III.
Meanwhile, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. left the game with a hip flexor injury. He did not return after briefly coming back into the contest. Darius Slay played moving forward across from James Pierre.
Porter has dealt with a few injuries this year, and missed three games early in the season with a hamstring strain. Since his return, Porter has shined as a standout member of the secondary, and has put together some of his best career games over the last month.
Lastly, offensive tackle Broderick Jones dealt with a stinger and did not return. He was replaced by Calvin Anderson, but Jones said after the game he felt fine and believes it was nothing more than a momentary issue.
Stingers can be related to deeper issues, however, and Jones will have to be monitored throughout the week to make sure his symptoms pass after the scary injury.
