KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Chiefs are adding to their running back depth.
Former Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce is signing with the Chiefs and joining the practice squad, Kansas City announced Monday. Pierce was released by the Texans last week.
Pierce was a fourth-round pick of the Texans during the 2022 NFL Draft out of Florida.
As a rookie, Piece had over 1,000 total yards in 13 games with Houston. He struggled to find playing time over the last three seasons, with only 52 touches in 2024 and 2025 for the Texans.
He joins the Chiefs as running back Isiah Pacheco has missed three consecutive games due to an MCL sprain and as free agent signee Elijah Mitchell continues to struggle to find playing time.
On Sunday, veteran Kareem Hunt had 30 carries for 104 yards, giving the Chiefs their first 100-yard rusher of the season. Five carries also went to Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who has been elevated from the practice squad for two of the past three games.
