The move is not official and may not become so until Tuesday or Wednesday. Adding Goodlow will require a corresponding practice squad move.
Goodlow is joining the Steelers after visiting with the team last week. Pittsburgh first worked him out last October.
Undrafted in 2024, Goodlow has appeared in three NFL games. All have come this season, Goodlow logging 36 defensive snaps with the Arizona Cardinals before being released in mid-October. He offers prototypical size, measuring in at 6042, 283 pounds with 34 5/8-inch arms at his 2024 Pro Day.
He began his career at Tulsa before transferring to Oklahoma State for his final collegiate season. Combined, he recorded 155 tackles (27.5 for a loss) and 15 sacks across both schools.
Goodlow also spent time with the Los Angeles Rams before landing in Arizona.
The reason for Goodlow’s addition is unclear. Pittsburgh’s defensive line is seemingly healthy, and the Steelers did not exit their Sunday loss to the Chicago Bears with any known injuries up front. However, Cam Heyward hardly practiced last week due to an ankle injury. Signing Goodlow could be a sign Heyward will be similarly managed ahead of the Steelers’ Week 13 game against the Buffalo Bills.
Other defensive linemen on the team’s 53-man roster are Derrick Harmon, Keeanu Benton, Yahya Black, Logan Lee, Esezi Otomewo, and Brodric Martin-Rhodes. Lee and Martin-Rhodes have been weekly inactives while Otomewo plays limited, through increasing, snaps. Kyler Baugh is also on the practice squad after spending training camp with the Steelers.
Mike Tomlin will speak to the media Tuesday to offer a health update. Tomlin has already indicated that he expects QB Aaron Rodgers to return in Week 13 after sitting out Sunday due to a fracture in his left, non-throwing wrist.
