The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are looking toward a spot in the College Football Playoff bracket. However, first they’ll have to close out their regular season with a night game on Saturday at Stanford.

Based on their handling of the Syracuse Orange 70-7 this past weekend, it appears they should have no problem. Many individuals participated in the massive blowout for Notre Dame, with Jeremiyah Love looking impressive. The senior running back tallied 171 yards and three touchdowns on his eight carries.

It gave the Fighting Irish the sort of victory that would have those doubting them as a playoff contender potentially changing their minds, even against a 3-7 Syracuse squad.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish running back Jeremiyah Love

On Tuesday, Notre Dame shared some significant news regarding their star, Love. On X, they revealed that Love is among the Maxwell Award finalists.

“One Love Jeremiyah Love is the best player in college football,” they proclaimed, including a highlight reel showing off many of his incredible rushing plays for the Fighting Irish. Several included Love spinning away from defenders and breaking away for massive touchdown runs.

At least one receiving touchdown also made it into the video, appropriately set to a fun “Talkin’ About Love” song for the Notre Dame star. Experience some of the fun and excitement that he’s brought this season in the reel below.

Love’s season has undoubtedly been impressive. The senior has 185 carries for 1,306 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. He’s also excelled in a receiver role with 26 receptions for 274 yards, three touchdowns, and 10.5 yards on average. Those are collegiate highs for Love.

Additional Maxwell Award finalists this season include Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza and Ohio State quarterback Julian Saying. Interestingly enough, these three players are also contending for the Heisman Trophy contender with Texas A&M’s Marcell Reed. The latest odds have Love ranked second, with Mendoza leading the way.

However, they all have games coming up where they can further make their case for winning the Maxwell Award and Heisman Trophy. As of this writing, the point spread shows Notre Dame as a sizable favorite of 32.5 points, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Love significantly upped his stats against the Cardinal football team.
