NFL Week 12 overreactions: Chiefs stay alive, Cowboys shock Eagles
USA TODAY Sports’ Prince Grimes ‘overreacts’ to some of the best games from Sunday’s Week 12 slate.
The Philadelphia Eagles are back in black for Black Friday.Â
The Eagles announced they will be wearing black jerseys, black pants and black helmets when they face the Chicago Bears at 3 p.m. on Nov. 28 at Lincoln Financial Field.Â
Here’s what to know about alternate uniforms. Â
How many times can the Eagles wear alternate uniforms?
NFL rules allow teams to wear alternate uniforms four times during the season. The Eagles wore Kelly green uniforms on Oct. 26 against the New York Giants and Nov. 23 against the Dallas Cowboys. They will wear Kelly green in Week 18 against the Washington Commanders.
This will be the only game featuring the all-black uniform.
When did the Eagles first wear black jerseys?
While the Eagles introduced a black alternate jersey in 2003, the first time they wore black jerseys with black pants and a black helmet was Black Sunday on Oct. 12, 2014. The Eagles defeated the Giants 27-0.
Why is NFL playing a Black Friday game?
According to CBS Sports, when Amazon got the rights to broadcast “Thursday Night Football”, it didn’t include Thanksgiving Day games, which already went to FOX, CBS and NBC. Amazon then came up with the idea to have a game on Black Friday to coincide with its busiest shopping day of the year.
The first Black Friday game was in 2023 with the Miami Dolphins defeating the New York Jets, 34-13.
