Deion Sanders had the chance to finally enjoy a football game watching his son, Shedeur, as simply his dad on Sunday, as the rookie quarterback helped lead the Browns to a 24-10 win over the Raiders in his first NFL start.
Deion was Shedeur’s coach in high school and collegiately at both Jackson State and Colorado.

This made Sunday’s game in Las Vegas a rather unique experience for Deion, getting to watch Shedeur live out an NFL dream without having to coach him.

“That’s the first time I’ve ever watched him play without me on the sideline,” the Colorado head coach told reporters on Tuesday after watching Sunday’s game from the suite of Raiders owner Mark Davis. “I’ve never seen him play without me coaching him, so that was strange. But it was good, and it was healthy. ‘Cause I was just in straight dad mode. I wasn’t in coach mode and I loved that, that I was able to see him gain the first victory.”
Shedeur put on a show for his old man and the Browns faithful as he threw for 209 yards and a touchdown, the first of his NFL career.

One of his best throws of the game came when he heaved a 52-yard pass downfield to Isaiah Bond to set up a first-quarter touchdown run by Quinshon Judkins.
Dylan Sampson was the recipient of a short pass that turned into a 66-yard score for Shedeur’s first touchdown pass.
Shedeur will be the Browns’ starter again on Sunday when Cleveland faces the 49ers even after fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel cleared concussion protocol.

Following the win over the Raiders, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski spoke highly of the fifth-round draft pick.

“I just see Shedeur, Dillon, growing a ton both with the Xs and Os and all the work in individual periods. I do see significant growth in Shedeur,” Stefanski said. “He’ll get every rep.”
