Well, that didn’t last long.

After one week appearing at No. 21 in the CFP rankings, Illinois is already back out after a disappointing 27-10 loss at Wisconsin on Saturday.

The new rankings came out Tuesday night. The top of the rankings remained unchanged with Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M, Georgia and Texas Tech still leading the pack.

Again, I don’t think anyone can be shocked or upset at the Illini no longer appearing as their record this season fell to 7-4 (4-4 Big Ten). For a season that started with hopes of 10 wins and a possible CFP berth, it’s been quite the fall to hoping Illinois can pick up an eighth win against Northwestern on Saturday (6:30 p.m. on Fox).
