The No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes and the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines are set to face off in a highly-anticipated clash on Saturday, marking the 121st edition of “The Game.”

This bitter rivalry matchup already has plenty of intrigue with Ohio State losing each of the last four matchups. Ryan Day is 1-4 against Michigan since taking over as head coach, notching his lone victory during his debut season in 2019.

During the most recent episode of “The Triple Option” podcast, former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer added some more intrigue to this rivalry clash.

Meyer says if Michigan wins on Saturday, they will punch their ticket into the 12-team College Football Playoff field.

“They win, they’ll be the best win of the year of anybody,” Meyer said. “They win this one they won’t make the Big Ten Championship, or will they? But I agree with Mark [Ingram], if the Wolverines win, they’re in.”

Sherrone Moore and Michigan are surging at the right time, winning each of their last five games. The Wolverines continued to build on their positive momentum this past Saturday, taking down the Maryland Terrapins with a dominant 45-20 final score.

Michigan earned No. 15 position in Tuesday’s College Football Playoff rankings release, putting them right on the cusp of postseason consideration. A win over the undefeated, No. 1 Buckeyes would certain endear the Wolverines to this year’s selection committee.

Ohio State hasn’t lost a single game since suffering its brutal home defeat to Michigan last year. The reigning national champions are 11-0 heading into Saturday’s matchup against the Wolverines.

Saturday’s game will kickoff at noon ET in Ann Arbor.
