It took twelve weeks, but former Birmingham Stallions OL Barry Wesley has finally been activated. He spent this past preseason with the New Orleans Saints – but ended up on injured reserve.

That may have been a blessing in disguise, though, with Wesley having stuck around in New Orleans all this time. Now, he may have a chance to see regular season action down the stretch of the year.

Barry began his spring career with the Seattle Sea Dragons in the XFL, having an outstanding season that led to an NFL opportunity with the Atlanta Falcons.

Wesley was with Atlanta for over a year on their practice squad, released at the end of August. Birmingham came calling, and signed Wesley back into the UFL for the 2025 season.

Barry Wesley was versatile for the Stallions this year. They dealt with injuries on the O-Line multiple times, and Barry moved around between guard and tackle throughout the season. Wesley ended up starting in nine of 11 games played, with a strong 74.9 Pass Blocking Grade via PFF.

He participated in all three preseason games with the Saints, allowing one sack on 99 snaps, via PFF data.

It’s no surprise that Wesley was brought in by New Orleans this summer. Randy Mueller, who was formerly Seattle’s DPP in the XFL, is a Senior Advisor for the Saints currently.
