Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith (shoulder/chest) was not practicing on Wednesday as the Eagles prepare to face the Chicago Bears on Black Friday.

Smith began the week listed as a non-participant on Tuesday, when the Eagles held a walkthrough. Wednesday’s practice is the Eagles’ only full practice of the short week and Smith wasn’t out there.

Smith, 27, hasn’t missed many games since the Eagles drafted him in the first round back in 2021. This season, Smith has started all 11 games and leads the Eagles in receiving with 754 yards on 55 catches.

DE Brandon Graham (groin) was listed as a non-participant to start the week but returned to practice on Wednesday.

WR Xavier Gipson (shoulder) was a spectator at practice but was not participating. He got injured when he fumbled on a punt return in Dallas.

It’s worth noting that WR/RS Britain Covey has switched jersey numbers from 85 back to his old 18, which was previously worn by John Metchie III this season. It seems possible that Covey will be the Eagles’ punt returner on Friday.

The other two players who began the week as DNP — S Drew Mukuba (ankle) and RT Lane Johnson (foot) — were obviously not out there again on Wednesday. Johnson will miss his second straight game with a Lisfranc sprain, while Mukuba needs surgery to repair a fractured ankle and the rest of his rookie season is in jeopardy.

All three players who were limited to start the week — RB Saquon Barkley (groin), S Reed Blankenship (thigh), G Landon Dickerson (knee) — were practicing again on Wednesday.

And the three players who were full participants to start the week — T Myles Hinton (back), CB Adoree’ Jackson (gameday concussion protocol evaluation), G/C Willie Lampkin (knee/ankle) — were also participating.

The Eagles will release their game statuses for this week on Thursday afternoon.
