The Baltimore Ravens have always been winners off the field with an array of community initiatives that reflect a genuine commitment to the city and its people (“Ravens see improvement from defensive front: ‘How about the pass rush!?’” Nov. 26).

I experienced this when I sang a karaoke duet with Ravens wide receiver Derrick Mason as part of a pre-season outreach program for fans to meet and greet Ravens players.

Mason and I love Motown music, so we performed the Temptations’ “My Girl” — complete with impromptu dance moves — for an audience of 200 retirees in Catonsville. He then sang Luther Vandross’ ballad “Here and Now,” which he dedicated to his wife.

Mason ended his football career in 2012 with 943 career NFL receptions for 12,061 yards. I ended my public relations career with enough fond memories to last a lifetime.

Edgar Allan Poe’s ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore could not “quoth” a better ending.
