The wide receiver position has been a topic of conversation for the Buffalo Bills over the last 18 months. Following the trade of Stefon Diggs, the Bills didn’t do anything to fill the large shoes he left behind. Instead, they embraced the “Everybody Eats” mantra, where there isn’t one go-to target on the roster, rather everyone gets a healthy share of the pie.

While the Bills made it to the AFC Championship Game with this philosophy, their offense has been incredibly inconsistent and volatile in 2025, and the lack of a go-to receiver has hurt them immensely.

With that in mind, I looked at the production the Bills have gotten from the 11 receivers they signed, drafted, and/or traded for since trading Diggs away. That will include the likes of Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins, who were signed ahead of the trade, but never played a game alongside Diggs. Also, Brandin Cooks will not be involved in this exercise because he has yet to play a game.

Alright, let’s get into it. The results will not surprise you, which isn’t a good thing.

In totality, this is the combined production the Bills have gotten out of the receivers they’ve brought in since trading Diggs:

That averages out to 18 catches, 216 yards, and 1.45 touchdowns per receiver in that span. On a per game basis, it averages out to 2.12 catches, 25.5 yards, and 0.17 touchdowns.

This has been a prime example of organizational malpractice. Trading away a star pass-catcher and doing an impressively terrible job at replacing that player with anything even resembling a No. 1 wide receiver. It’s something Brandon Beane will need to answer for, potentially with his job, if the Bills fall short in the postseason again, because this is completely unacceptable.
