BYU football will welcome the UCF Knights to LaVell Edwards Stadium for the regular season finale on Saturday.

The 10-1, 11th-ranked Cougars have high stakes entering the matchup. If they win, BYU will punch its ticket to the Big 12 Championship Game in Arlington, Texas.

BYU will likely look to punch that ticket without one of its key offensive players.

Chase Roberts is “Doubtful” for No. 11 BYU’s game against UCF

The initial availability report for this week’s game was released on Wednesday night on Thanksgiving Eve. It revealed that BYU star receiver Chase Roberts is “Doubtful” for Saturday’s senior day matchup, which will be Roberts’s last home game as a BYU Cougar.

Roberts suffered an injury during the first half of last week’s win at Cincinnati. He didn’t play in the second half as he was in street clothes for the final 30 minutes in BYU’s 26-14 victory at Nippert Stadium.

With Roberts’ status in doubt for Saturday, BYU’s top receivers without Roberts would expected to be Parker Kingston, Jojo Phillips, and Cody Hagen, with Reggie Frischknecht and Tei Nacua next in line.

UCF has one of the best secondaries in the Big 12. The Knights are second in the Big 12 this season in defending the pass, allowing only 175.6 yards per game through the air.

Other notable players on BYU’s availability report this week include linebacker Max Alford, remaining “OUT.” Alford suffered an injury against TCU in Provo two weeks ago.

Also, “OUT” this week is running back Sione Moa. Moa has been out since week three against East Carolina. The fact that he remains on the availability report indicates that coaches have yet to determine his injury as season-ending.

Starting offensive lineman Weylin Lapuaho is “Doubtful” for Saturday. Lapuaho was sporting a boot on his left foot last week during the win at Cincinnati. The senior starting left guard suffered an injury against TCU.

Another notable name on this week’s availability report is defensive tackle Anisi Purcell. Purcell was playing with a club in Cincinnati.
