ENGLEWOOD – Defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers said there is “some disappointment” at not having been offered a contract extension by the Broncos, but he plans to keep showing up for work with a smile on his face and remains interested in re-signing with the team.

The Broncos this week locked up kicker Wil Lutz for three years, $16.1 million; center Luke Wattenberg for four years, $48 million; and defensive lineman Malcolm Roach for three years, $24 million. But a source told The Denver Gazette on Monday that Franklin-Myers hasn’t been offered any deal. He confirmed that after Wednesday’s practice at Broncos Park and said he expects most likely to become a free agent in March.

“I know my day will come, whether it’s here or somewhere else,’’ Franklin-Myers told The Denver Gazette. “That’s not exactly my decision to make (with an extension). … I would say, yeah, there is some disappointment. This is a job. You want to feel valued, you want to feel appreciated. But ultimately, I can’t go sign my own contract. … You show back (at Broncos Park) with a smile on your face and you do your job and eventually it’s going to work out.”

Franklin-Myers, 29 and in his eighth NFL season, was acquired by the Broncos from the New York Jets in April 2024 and signed a renegotiated two-year, $15 million contract. He had a career-high seven sacks in 2024 and has 4.5 this season while starting 10 of Denver’s 11 games.

The Denver Gazette had first reported in July that the Broncos did not plan to offer Franklin-Myers an extension before the start of the regular season and nothing has changed. Franklin-Myers has been vocal about wanting to play in Denver past this season and said he still feels that way.

“I’ve made it clear to everybody that I want to be here,’’ Franklin-Myers said.

Head coach Sean Payton wouldn’t rule out the possibility of the Broncos signing another player to an extension during this season and said there will be “internal discussions.” However, the Broncos made a point of wanting to get deals done with Lutz, Wattenberg and Roach with the team having a bye week after a 22-19 win over Kansas City on Nov. 16.

With that in mind, Franklin-Myers figures he most likely will become a free agent in March.

“They’ve signed a few people, and I’m sure the well is running dry,’’ he said. “But who knows the future or what the future holds?”

If he becomes a free agent in March, Franklin-Myers said he still would have interest in re-signing with the Broncos.

“I’m not going to close the door on them,’’ he said.

In the meantime, Franklin-Myers said he was thrilled to see three teammates, all in the final year of their deals, sign extensions.

“(I like seeing) the joy in people’s eyes that changes the trajectory of their family,’’ Franklin-Myers said. “I care about the players. I care about this team, and I want guys to do well.”

Roach said Wednesday he hopes the Broncos will end up re-signing Franklin-Myers.

“We’ve just got to find a way to keep our (defensive line) room together,” Roach said. “Get my dawg JFM right, and we’re going to be good.”

Franklin-Myers said it will be business as usual as the Broncos prepare to play Sunday at Washington.

“Turn the tape on,’’ he said of his play. “I don’t change. … The money’s going to be there (regardless of whether he returns to Denver). I have a certain standard that I play to.”

Franklin-Myers played for the Los Angeles Rams in 2018 and for the Jets from 2019-23. He would be ready to move on after this season if that’s what ends up being required.

“Nobody wants to get up and move their family and do this or whatever,’’ he said. “I’m willing to (if needed). I’ve done it (before). … But ultimately I do want to be valued and be respected. If it happens here, then great. But if not and that’s what they choose, the next team is going to be grateful (to have him).”
