About five minutes after selecting Texas running back Jaydon Blue in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys decided that they did not want to wait much longer.
Dallas executed a trade with the Arizona Cardinals for pick 152 (Blue went at 149). In exchange for the selection the Cowboys gave up picks 174 and 211.
These are two compensatory picks (211 is a sixth-rounder) that Dallas had to work with so they are continuing to use them to their advantage.
Before making the trade the Cowboys were going to have to wait until pick number 174 to select again if that is not obvious. It stands to reason that they really loved what James had to offer them and wanted to make sure that they came away with him.
This was the first trade that the Cowboys made during the 2025 NFL Draft.
