There is no media availability for the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday due to the Thanksgiving holiday. While reporters aren’t able to observe practice, the team will still take the field before players head home to celebrate with their families—and enjoy some well-earned Thanksgiving meals.

So what dishes do some of the 49ers’ biggest stars look forward to the most? On Wednesday, three key players revealed their favorite Thanksgiving foods.

George Kittle: Dessert takes the crown

It’s no surprise that tight end George Kittle gravitates toward the sweet side of the holiday menu. While pumpkin pie is a classic, it doesn’t top his list.

“Thanksgiving, I’m a pretty big dessert guy,” Kittle told reporters. “I love apple pie. I love rhubarb pie. I love pecan pie. You know, pumpkin’s solid, but I like the other three way more. Like blueberry—give me a good blueberry pie. Ooh, that’s so good. It’s so, so nice.

“But, yeah, I’m more of a dessert guy on Thanksgiving. Everything else, I just cover everything in gravy and eat it.”

Kyle Juszczyk: A unique family favorite

Fullback Kyle Juszczyk and his family celebrated Thanksgiving earlier in the week to help him stay focused on Sunday’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns. When it comes to holiday favorites, he highlighted a dish that might raise eyebrows.

“My wife’s family, they have a family recipe of pineapple stuffing,” Juszczyk shared. “Sounds crazy, but it’s absolutely delicious.”

And his pie of choice this year? A classic pumpkin slice—with a little whipped cream on top.

Trent Williams: All about the fried turkey

Tackle Trent Williams refrained from naming a dessert as his favorite Thanksgiving food.

“Favorite food, I would say, probably the fried turkey,” Williams said. “But my plans are going to consist of trying to break down this film and get ready for this weekend.”
