Navy, at 6-1 in the American, shares first place with No. 24 Tulane and North Texas but finishes third in a three-way tiebreaker. The Midshipmen need a win over the Tigers on Thursday night and a loss by either Tulane or North Texas — both heavy favorites — to reach the conference title game. Navy was idle last week after a 41-38 win over visiting South Florida on Nov. 15 and is led by the running and passing of quarterback Blake Horvath, who has 986 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground to go with 1,290 yards and two scores through the air. Alex Tecza comes in with 669 yards and seven TDs in the ground game, and Eli Heidenreich has 38 catches for 741 yards and four touchdowns. Landon Robinson leads the defense with 5.5 sacks.

Memphis comes in off consecutive losses, including a 31-27 defeat at East Carolina on Nov. 15, and at 4-3 in the American, has no path to the title game. Brendon Lewis has 2,395 yards and 13 touchdowns with six interceptions while completing 71.7% of his throws and has also compiled 677 yards and nine scores on the ground. Sutton Smith tops the team with 644 rushing yards and has seven TDs, while Greg Desrosiers Jr. had 538 yards and seven touchdowns. Cortez Braham Jr. tops the receivers with 59 catches, 824 yards, and seven scores. Sam Brumfield tops the defense with 13 tackles for loss, including 4.5 sacks.

Navy broke a five-game losing streak to Memphis with a 56-44 win at home on Sept. 21, 2024, with the Tigers still leading the all-time series 6-4.
