DETROIT, Mich. (WNEM) – Feeding America held its first campaign at the Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Classic Presented by Ford.
The Detroit Lions partnered with Feeding America to invite people watching the Thanksgiving game at home to make a monetary donation to help people have access to food for the holidays, said Feeding America.
The two aim to raise enough to provide five million meals, said Feeding America. It said $1 helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local partner food banks.
Feeding America said 80 percent of each donation will go to the local food bank based on the donor’s zip code. The remainder goes towards Feeding America’s nationwide mission.
