Things have been rough for the Baltimore Ravens this season, especially for star wide receiver Zay Flowers. After last night’s season-crushing loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, he made a decision on social media that was pretty indicative of how rough things are.

Some social media sleuths checked his X and Instagram accounts and quickly noticed that as of today Flowers has shut down both accounts. His X feed of nearly 50,000 followers is locked and his Instagram is disabled.

Flowers is coming off one of the worst games of his career last night. He caught just two of seven targets for 6 yards in a 32-14 loss that has the Ravens on the brink of playoff elimination.

Flowers has had an okay but hardly remarkable season this year. He has 60 receptions for 767 yards and one touchdown. But about 18% of his yardage plus that lone touchdown came in Baltimore’s Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Fan mockery

NFL fans weren’t exactly in the mood to commiserate with Flowers though. The responses to news that he’s locked his social media accounts has mostly been a combination of mockery and eye-rolling.

“I want this lil boy gone from Baltimore. He too soft & be costing us games. I’ll never forgive him for that drop in the AFC championship game,” one user declared on X.

“Not only can he not catch, he can’t handle criticism or pressure. Doesn’t sound like a professional football player to me. Get Lamar some WRs,” wrote another.

“Nobody ever wants to take accountability after a big loss,” a third wrote.

“Soft as hell.”

If it’s any consolation to Flowers, he’s clearly not the main problem with the team. It’s not his fault that the Ravens have given up over 30 points on five separate occasions this season, or that star QB Lamar Jackson has missed nearly half the season with injuries.

Nevertheless, the season is rapidly approaching the end and if the Ravens miss the playoffs he’s going to be facing a lot of questions this offseason.
