Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin announced he would be making a decision on his coaching future on Saturday, Nov. 29 – just a day after capping off an 11-1 regular season with the Rebels.
“I haven’t. Maybe that surprises you. But you know, I’ve got to do some praying and figure this thing out,” Kiffin said when asked if he’d made a decision after Ole Miss’ Egg Bowl victory over Mississippi State on Friday. “There’s a lot [that goes] into it. It’s a hard decision. You guys have them all the time. You’ve got to make decisions about jobs you take and where you move, and we get paid a lot, so I understand we’re under a lot of spotlight and scrutiny.”
With Kiffin’s decision looming, one SEC school remains confident.

Florida exited the Lane Kiffin sweepstakes before the Egg Bowl, leaving the coach down to two choices: LSU or Ole Miss. Fox Sports insider Bruce Feldman revealed that LSU is “confident” that Kiffin will be headed to Baton Rouge to replace Brian Kelly.
“LSU has offered Lane Kiffin a seven year deal worth in the neighborhood of $100 million. Expect him to announce his decision later today. I talked to LSU sources this morning, and they are very confident that Lane Kiffin is going to come to Baton Rouge and accept the Tigers job,” Feldman said on Saturday.

“Ole Miss has done everything it can to keep him and obviously there’s an emotional piece of this that he would get to coach his team in the playoff. But the lure of going to LSU and taking over a program that’s won three national titles – with three different head coaches – over the last 20 years and be able to physically go toe-to-toe with the Georgia’s and Alabama’s of the SEC may be too tempting to pass up.”
If Kiffin leaves Ole Miss for LSU he’s not expected to be allowed to coach the Rebels in the College Football Playoff.
