What do Lions need to improve most down the stretch?

Campbell talked Saturday about a lack of discipline and lack of attention to detail as something that frustrated him about Thursday’s loss. It’s something that’s been an issue over the last month with Detroit’s inconsistent performance over that span.

Detroit had 10 players on the field on defense for a third-down play and were also flagged for having too many men on the field on a separate occasion. They were also flagged for two formation penalties on offense.

“I think ultimately where we have to get better collectively as a team, in all three phases, which I’m responsible for, is our detail and our discipline,” Campbell said. “That’s what’s bitten us here a little bit.

“I think all the little things we talk about, and it really is those two words – detail and discipline. We have to be so much better, a ton better than we’ve been. We’re too inconsistent right now.”

Campbell said the personnel and formation penalties that popped up Thursday were frustrating and those are the little things that can get a team beat if not executed properly.

“That’s part of being disciplined and there again, I’m totally responsible for those,” Campbell said. “That’s on my watch and it’s not OK. It’s not OK we had 10 or 12 or lined up wrong and I’m responsible for all of it. So, we have not been detailed enough.”

Campbell said it’s something he plans on hitting head on this week.
