The Kansas City Chiefs faced the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12 of the NFL season.

The Chiefs entered that game with a 5–5 record and very much in need of a win to stay in the playoff race.

The Colts got out to a 20-9 lead in the fourth quarter but Patrick Mahomes and company battled back.

Mahomes threw for 352 yards en route to a 23-20 overtime win.

At one point during the fourth quarter, however, there was a dangerous blind-side hit by Chiefs offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia.

Chiefs running back Brashard Smith was carrying the football up the field when Suamataia delivered the hit on Colts cornerback Charvarius Ward, a former Kansas City Chief.

On Saturday, the NFL released its gameday-accountability fines for Week 12, and Suamataia was named.

He was fined $8,108 for the blind-side hit.

Suamataia is in his second season in the NFL. He was a second-round pick by the Chiefs in the 2024 draft.

He played his college football for the Oregon Ducks and then the BYU Cougars, where he was a 2023 second-team All-Big 12 selection.

Suamataia was not the only Chiefs player to take a financial hit from actions in Week 12. Kansas City cornerback Trent McDuffie incurred an $11,593 fine for a first-quarter facemask penalty against the Colts.
