LAS VEGAS, Nev.–All eyes will again be on the Las Vegas Raiders’ offensive line on Sunday in their AFC West matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Raiders’ offensive line, or lack thereof, has been the story of the season. Las Vegas’ lack of depth along the offensive line has all but undone all of the front office’s offseason moves. Their failure to address what was an obvious need has come back to bite them on a weekly basis.

It is more than evident that the Raiders must focus on their offensive line this season in both the NFL Draft and free agency this offseason. Las Vegas cannot afford to start next season without overhauling the unit. However, there is still six games left until the end of the season.

The Raiders‘ coaching staff must make the most of the offensive line they have available to them right now, with or without injuries. Switching from Chip Kelly to Greg Olson should help the Raiders make some progress, but unless Olson can fix the line, it will not make much of a difference.

Carroll recently explained how changes along the offensive line and offensive coordinator has impacted his approach.

“I made sure that every day was a really important day for us. I wanted to make sure that we didn’t just get out there and go through the motions and do a normal practice. We can’t afford to do that,” Carroll said.

“We have to practice well at every phase of it, really emphasizing red zone and third down is a huge deal on both sides of the football and finishing those opportunities one way or the other. So, we had a good strong weekend. We have a lot of guys that were out there practicing and healthy with us, so that helped us.”

“Well, it depends on what the plan is, and certain guys call for certain attention and situations call for certain attention. The style of throws, are you play passing? Are you moving the quarterback? Those kinds of things are all part of all of the big picture of that,” Carroll said.

“And we really respected the guys last week rushing the passer, and we respect these guys too. So, it’s a different plan this week than it was last week, but it’s specific to them, and we got to hit it at the right times. Knowing how good Myles [Garrett] is, you can do all you want to take care of him, and he can still win. He’s famous for it. So, we got to hope we do a really nice job and the guys work together really well.”
