COLUMBIA — South Carolina football quarterback LaNorris Sellers said he hasn’t made a decision regarding his future after the 28-14 loss to Clemson that ended the Gamecocks’ season on Nov. 29.
Sellers, a redshirt sophomore who just finished his second season as the Gamecocks (4-8) quarterback, is eligible for the 2026 NFL Draft. Sellers is considered an early round prospect by NFL draft experts.
“When time comes to make a decision, I’ll make a decision, whatever’s best for me,” Sellers said.

Sellers was 23-of-42 for 381 yards with two touchdowns and two costly interceptions. The second was a pick six that sealed the game for the Tigers (7-5) late in the fourth quarter.
The Gamecocks season is now over as they failed to make a bowl game for the second time in five years under coach Shane Beamer. Sellers went from 9-3 in Year 1 to 4-8 in Year 2. This season marks Beamer’s worst in Columbia.
“I got a couple of exams next week so focused on them right now,” Sellers said when asked what the next few days look like. “You have a December to make a decision, January. I mean, just whatever’s best.”
It’s also possible that Sellers could transfer.
There is now just one transfer portal window that is open from Jan. 2-16.
Sellers finished with 478 less passing yards this year (2,056), seven fewer passing touchdowns (11), two less rushing touchdowns (five), 406 less rushing yards and was sacked five more times than last year. He played in 12 games both seasons, missing one game last year with an injury.
He was asked if he thought he regressed this season.
“No I wouldn’t say regressed,” Sellers said. “As years go on, I mean defenses get paid too, they’re not going to let me get away with what I did do to them in the previous year.”
Nyck Harbor addresses future at South Carolina, trooper bump
Receiver Nyck Harbor, a 6-5 track star who quit running to invest fully in football, also has a decision to make. He could declare for the draft too or like Sellers, stay or leave.
Draft experts are not in agreement about Harbor’s projection in the draft.
“I haven’t really thought about that yet,” Harbor said. He had six catches for 115 yards in the loss to Clemson. “I’m going to sit down with … my people but I’m not even thinking about that. We just finished the season.”
Harbor led the team with 618 receiving yards on 30 catches and scored six touchdowns, his longest was 80 yards against Texas A&M. After the score in College Station on Nov. 15, Harbor ran into the tunnel after scoring and as he came back out to the sideline, he was bumped by a trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The trooper stationed near the tunnel at Kyle Field was “relieved” from his game day assignment following the incident.
“I’ll keep that information disclosed,” Harbor said Nov. 29 when asked if he ever got an apology or what came out of the situation.
