Another year, another Thanksgiving Day win for quarterback Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers. The team traveled to Detroit to face off against the Lions in their 23rd Thanksgiving matchup against the team, and 193rd overall meeting. The game was a close one, with both teams having nearly identical stats in all areas except for one key metric: 4th down conversions. The Packers were a perfect 3/3, while the Lions were 0/2. This proved to be the difference maker for the Packers, leading them to the 31-24 win, and putting the Lions at risk of missing the playoffs. Let’s dive into the best of the best and take a look at this week’s winners.

Jordan Love’s stretch of great play on holidays continued with his third-straight Thanksgiving Day win and the Madden Thanksgiving MVP trophy. Love looked great on Thursday, with a couple of “WOW” throws, including the game-winning first down pass to Dontayvion Wicks, and this BEAUTY of a pass to Christian Watson for a 51-yard score. With this ball traveling over 58 air yards, this is Love’s longest TD pass of his career.

The other fanbase is calling it a push-off in between sobs and heaving breaths, but this was a great play by both quarterback and receiver, plain and simple. Love has been immaculate on Thanksgiving over the last three years, with 61 completions on 90 attempts (67%) for 776 yards, 9 TDs, and 0 INTs. He has also never been sacked on Thanksgiving Day. It seems like the trust in Love by HC Matt LaFleur is at an all-time high lately, and rightfully so. Love’s final 2025 Thanksgiving Day stat line: 18/30 for 234 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs, and a 124.2 rating.

I still can’t believe he’s a Packer. Micah Parsons made NFL history on Thursday by becoming the first player to ever have 12+ sacks in each of his first five NFL seasons. In a league which has seen names like Reggie White, Aaron Donald, J.J. Watt, and Myles Garrett, calling this quite the feat would be an understatement. Parsons has been nothing but a disruptor since being traded to Green Bay in August.

Parsons generated 10 pressures and 2.5 sacks in 26 pass rushes for his highest pressure rate (38.5%) since his rookie season. 4 of these pressures and 1.5 sacks were generated on just 6 third down pass rushes. Pure dominance, through and through. Through 12 games, Parsons is officially at 12.5 sacks. The last Packer to accumulate 12.5 sacks in a season was Za’Darius Smith in 2020, and it took him 15 games to get there. Packers fans are beyond lucky to get to witness this greatness from a guy wearing green and gold.

Dontayvion truthers, it’s our time. With Matthew Golden and Savion Williams nursing their way back to health, and Jayden Reed still out, Jordan Love’s options at receiver have been limited. I’ve been begging to get Dontayvion Wicks more looks in the offense, and finally, he had his breakout game on the big stage. He’s shown some promise over the last few weeks, but hasn’t been the team’s “guy” until now.

Something seemed to click last night, and Wicks looked like the receiver we always knew he could be. On a nerve wracking 4th down, he was able to get both feet down (yes, Lions fans, both feet were down) for the team’s first touchdown of the day.

Wicks was targeted 7 times on Thursday, and brought in 6 of them for 94 yards and 2 TDs. He now has 3 career games with 2 TDs, and all of them have come against a different NFC North rival. He had some incredibly athletic and high-effort catches, including the first down that ended the game. This would’ve been a dropped pass a year ago, and instead, with one shoe on, he made it look easy. In the locker room after the game, Wicks was awarded a much-deserved game ball, and the team’s reaction was special.

With it looking exceedingly likely that the team loses Romeo Doubs in free agency next year, Wicks will have the opportunity to take a huge leap in 2026 as one of the team’s offensive mainstays. Yesterday’s game might be the moment we look back on in a few years as the point that things clicked for Wicks.

The 8-3-1 Packers have an even bigger NFC North matchup coming their way, their first game against the Chicago Bears, who currently occupy the division’s top spot with an 8-3 record at the time of writing. With Jayden Reed possibly making his return for this game, Matt LaFleur’s offense could get another game-changing boost just in time for the team’s final playoff push. The game will no doubt have huge implications for several NFC teams—tune in on December 7th at 3:25 pm local time.
