Patrick Mahomes didn’t spend Thanksgiving traveling home after the Kansas City Chiefs’ narrow 31-28 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Instead, he and his family stayed in Texas and celebrated the holiday together, sharing personal moments and festive updates online that quickly made headlines.

The Chiefs entered Thanksgiving coming off a key victory over the Indianapolis Colts and were aiming to build momentum. But after falling to the Cowboys on Thursday, November 28, Mahomes shifted directly into family mode for the rest of the holiday weekend.

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes Spend Thanksgiving in Texas

Rather than returning to Kansas City immediately after the game, Patrick Mahomes spent Thanksgiving surrounded by family in Texas. Brittany Mahomes shared several photos from the gathering, including their holiday decor and the family’s dinner table setup.

“Getting to spend Thanksgiving with all our family in TX this year is so special,” she wrote on Instagram.

Brittany, 30, wore white pinstriped pants, a coordinating T-shirt and loafers, and a bomber jacket. Patrick sported a patterned Louis Vuitton button-down and tan trousers. They celebrated with their three children—Sterling, 4, Bronze, 3, and Golden, who was born in January—as well as Patrick’s parents Pat Sr. and Randi and siblings Jackson, Mia and Zoe.

Randi Mahomes took to Instagram, too, posting a carousel of photos from their family celebration.

Jackson Mahomes posted a family photo on his own Instagram Stories with the caption, “Happy Thanksgiving 🍁.”

The Mahomes family dinner featured copper-colored plates, mustard goblets and orange floral centerpieces. The group enjoyed Thanksgiving together just hours after the Chiefs dropped to 6-6.

Patrick Mahomes Sparks Reactions for His Thanksgiving Ad

Before the game, Mahomes’ Thanksgiving meal also took center stage online for a different reason—his partnership with Adidas. In the holiday ad, the quarterback sat down at the dinner table and topped a turkey leg with ketchup.

“Thanksgiving is a time to eat,” Mahomes said in the commercial.

Fans immediately reacted to the ketchup moment, but it wasn’t surprising for longtime followers. Mahomes has openly talked about putting ketchup on unexpected foods. In a previous interview with Barstool Sports, he admitted:

“When I was younger, I used to eat ketchup sandwiches, just bread and ketchup. It is disgusting.”

He also shared that he still uses ketchup on steak and mac and cheese. “If I’m going to order the expensive steak, I want it the way I want it,” he said.

Patrick Mahomes Breaks Down the Chiefs’ Loss to the Cowboys

The Chiefs remained competitive throughout Thursday’s matchup, but the Cowboys pulled ahead late to secure the 31-28 win. After the game, Mahomes spoke about the team’s performance and where they stand heading into the rest of the season.

“Our ceiling is playing in the Super Bowl,” he said, via Chiefs reporter Charles Goldman. “We got all the same guys, we’ve added players, but at the end of the day, you’ve got to go out and do it every single week on a week-in, week-out basis.”

Mahomes added that consistency will be key moving forward.

“We can beat anybody, but we’ve shown that we can lose to anybody, and so we’ve got to be more consistent.”

The Chiefs continue their push toward the postseason as they enter the final stretch of the regular season.
