Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold’s injured-filled 2025 season might be over – because of an injury.

On Monday, the Lions placed the former Alabama defensive back on injured reserve because of a shoulder injury that he sustained during a 31-24 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday.

NFL rules require players on injured reserve to miss at least four games. Detroit has only five games remaining on its regular-season schedule.

But NFL Network reported that Arnold wouldn’t be back for the regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears. Instead, Arnold will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.

A first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Arnold started 15 games and played 948 defensive snaps as a rookie.

After Arnold suffered a shoulder injury in a 37-24 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Oct. 5, Lions coach Dan Campbell said Arnold was “going to be out for a long time.”

But because of Detroit’s Week 8 open date, Arnold missed only two games before returning on Nov. 2 in a 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

But on Nov. 9, Arnold sustained a concussion in a 44-22 victory over the Washington Commanders. Again, he missed two games before returning on Thursday.

Arnold played only 18 snaps against Green Bay in the Thanksgiving game.

The Lions play on Thursday this week, too, with the Dallas Cowboys coming to Ford Field in Detroit at 7:15 p.m. CST. Prime Video will televise the game.
