HOUSTON – Inside NRG Stadium, the Texans celebrated their annual Taste of the Texans’ charity event with several of the Houston area’s top restaurants.
They raised more than $500,000 for their charitable foundation to help fight food insecurity to benefit the community.
More than 35 of the area’s best restaurants, including Guard and Grace, Hidden Omakase, Pearl & Vine, Candente, Taste Kitchen + Bar, and The Cheesecake Queen, served up their signature cuisines.
The event was attended by Cal McNair, Hannah McNair, the Texans’ rookie class, including starting left tackle Aireontae Ersery, wide receiver Jayden Higgins, returner Jaylin Noel and running back Woody Marks along with Hall of Fame wide receiver Andre Johnson.
“Oh, it’s amazing,” rookie quarterback Graham Mertz said. “For me, just being able to experience the city, great food culture, great people.”
The 7-5 Texans, led by coach DeMeco Ryans, won their fourth game in a row Sunday over the Indianapolis Colts, marking their fourth one-score victory of the season.
“Yeah, it’s great,” Mertz said. “Just starting with coach Ryans, we’re in a great spot mentally, physically, we’re feeling good, so we’re fired up to go finish the season.”
