The Carolina Panthers have made a move at the beginning of their bye week.
As announced on Tuesday afternoon, the team has waived cornerback Kalen King. The 22-year-old defender was signed to the active roster on Saturday, just ahead of the Panthers’ eventual 31-28 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
A Penn State University standout from 2021 to 2023, King was selected in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers. He had been a member of Carolina’s practice squad since late August.
King made his NFL regular-season debut in this past Sunday’s upset, playing each of his seven snaps on special teams.
His spot will be filled by safety Tre’von Moehrig, who now rejoins the active roster after serving a one-game suspension for his low blow of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings in Week 12.
